So Friday night was the Jack Xmas Party 08..
It started at the brand new Cafe Coco in the Royal Hotel near the train station in Oxford. (just making the location clear invade you want to check it out, because it was brilliant!) Newly renovated, and beautiful food..
Only complaint was the funny dips in the middle of the table.. Couldn't tell you how many glasses of wine we spilt that night! Although that may be something to do with us!
Anyway... After a fun night, we headed off to The Regal on Cowley Road.. Keith out Jack Roadie does the 'set' from midnight till 2.. And had sorted us VIP entry..
Oh my god! The place was rammed, and how young did everyone seem? I was waiting for someone to ask us if we were there to collect a child!
But to be fair the whole VIP thing had it's benefits, a raised section overlooking the dancefloor, where you sat on comfy sofas... That's half the ingredients for my ideal night.. Sofas and being able to hear yourself speak.. Alas no chance of the second!
I had to laugh.. Lining up in the loos I felt I had stumbled into a school changeroom... All so young.. Discussing who they might 'get off with' ( such a lovely phrase that) .. And me, finding myself thinking 'won't you be cold in those shorts that truly define the word short'?
I'd like to say I came to my common senses then and there...
But of course not! Somehow I ended up being the last Jack person out, with a couple of other friends.
I duly ended up home at 330am, woke up at 930, felt like I needed a metric bucket of water to cure the dehydration... But fortunately could remember the entire evening. Phew!
Until someone asked me about a text I didn't realise I sent.
Someone really should put a lock on mobile phones that you can set before going out partying with
young folk!
